Power, cooling and capacity delivery

Distinguish installed capacity, available capacity and workloads a facility can support.

Research snapshot

The IEA reported that worldwide data-centre electricity demand rose 17% in 2025 and AI-focused data-centre electricity use rose 50%. These are global changes in electricity consumption. They do not describe the supply, power source or environmental performance of any particular facility.

Request milestones and dependencies

Ask for utility or on-site supply milestones, energization date, commissioning evidence, rack density, cooling type and the date capacity becomes usable. Record which party owns each dependency and the terms that apply if a milestone slips.

Build a comparable energy boundary

Estimate facility draw from average total IT load multiplied by PUE, then multiply by elapsed hours for facility energy. In the comparator, IT kW includes the whole modeled IT load. The result excludes embodied impacts and provides no location-specific emissions estimate.

Plan a fallback

Identify a temporary deployment region or reduced scale, with storage transfer timing and contractual consequences. Compare the risks of lead time and binding commitments separately from projected cost. Model two capacity and energy scenarios.
